Dresser Revamp With Wood Icing

I got lucky and got two dressers for $40!! Now, they were a mess but, I saw potential in those good bones and, I had a new product I was dying to try. It’s Wood Icing. It’s a texture paste and, allows you to create raised stencils, adding a decorative finish to a plain piece. I got the Wood Icing and the stencil through StencilGirl Products. There are some great tutorials on her site, as well.
When I started on this piece, it was covered in some kind of horrid glue. I wish I knew what kind because, that was some tough stuff lol! Someone had decided to do a little painting themselves, as well. With Nail Polish!! The bright, shiny kind.

So, I went to work. Scrubbing, Spraying with a whole can of Lysol, sanding, scraping & finally, Painting with Old Town Paints in French Blue. I did the Wood Icing down the front sides and trimmed it all in metallic silver.

You Can use any stencil you like. I used a paint scraper to apply the icing to my stencil, just like spreading peanut butter. Actually, it looks like peanut butter lol. If you don’t like the way it looks the first time, no worry, just scrape it off & put it back in the jar. I keep baby wipes handy and it cleaned it right up. I wiped my stencil with the baby wipe too lol.
So, I hope you try it. You will love it and start decorating everything. I even saw books, made to look antique, by using Wood Icing.
Have a beautiful day and find reasons to smile. God Bless ~ Dawn
